Traveling to Paris by train is much more relaxed than by plane. I caught an early train and arrived around 11 am Paris time. The seat was comfortable, individual and by a window. They even served a light breakfast – coffee, croissants, etc. I found my hotel quite easily – the Palym – and was able to check in immediately. The room is pleasant and the staff friendly. I decided to find my way over to Montparnasse by the Metro and RER. The only difficulty was finding one’s way from the Metro station to the SNCF spot where I needed to go to purchase my rail ticket for Chartres. I found it easiest to emerge into the real world above ground where you can see where you are going. I noticed that there is a major shopping centre near there. Maybe I’ll visit if I have time. I never seem to do much shopping in Paris- too many other things to do. Montparnasse is the same station Sandy and I used for our trip to Bordeaux, I think. We were sensible and caught a taxi there from memory – but we did have luggage!
